Recently our email addresses have been 'stolen' by spammers. Again. Most of the emails have a subject line regarding accounts being suspended at our website.
There are two issues here. First, we don't have account memberships through our website, so there's nothing to suspend.
Second, email can be made to look like it really has come from us when it hasn't.

The Many Hats of Spirit Circle
04.02.05 (2:41 pm)
At the risk of coming off like I'm blowing my own horn... well, nevermind. I am blowing my own horn, in the spirit of acquainting you with who is behind this website.
You may already know us as the owners of Spirit Circle, creators and purveyors of amazing soapstone sculptures and the original Spirit Circle Soul Decks, amongst other things.
Did you know that I wear a hat of another trade - website design? Yep, the very website you're looking at is an intuitive creation from the hotseat of my web studio. Check out more at Wholistic Web Design.
Recently I've embarked on another creative journey - I am now a graphic designer for the magazine Synchronicity out of Calgary, Alberta. (Like their website? It was born in my web studio too.)
Our talents are many, but all stem from the same root: intuitive creativity. I encourage you to find your own, celebrate and honour it as an integral part of Who You Are.
Namaste.

Aku Cinta Padamu
02.14.05 (11:25 am)
Distance is a horrible thing to endure for soul partners madly in love.
I recall a Valentine's Day not too many years ago when my Love resided on the other side of the globe. Our separation was heartwrenching, but brought a strength to our bond that could not have come otherwise.
Some days all we had were emails to share. In those emails, we discovered that the language of the heart was stronger than any verbal professions of our Love.
As we did then, I say to my Love:
Saya cinta padamu ~ Je t'aime ~ Ti amo ~ I love you.

Native Spirituality?
02.06.05 (1:36 pm)
I've had many comments over the years from visitors to the Spirit Circle website that they've been looking for "native spirituality" and have found it here.
I'm so glad that the content of our website touches the hearts of so many. Indeed, sharing from the heart-space is the foundation on which we can build a more tolerant, gentle, peaceful planet.
However, I have to confess, it's always kinda awkward because I'm not sure I even know what native spirituality is.
In response, I've done the best that I know - I've made an effort to encourage seekers to contact the band directly if they're interested in a particular band's traditions and views.
A common response is, "No, I don't want to do that. It's just that I have always loved the Native American spirituality and feel like it's a part of me. Like on this website..." and they send me a link to a webpage filled with art of women seductively posed with wolves and eagles faded into the background.
Now, please don't get me wrong - this is not criticism of anyone's work. I adore creativity, especially when it comes from the heart, spirit and soul of the artist. Most of this art is extremely enchanting and absolutely beautiful in itself, from the images created to the websites that house them.
I am just not understanding how these are representative of spirituality, is all. It hasn't been in my experience with the Native people I've known, learned from, and been close to. I'm thankful to have had the great fortune to learn just a miniscule bit about their native cultures directly from a few people in certain tribes, and nowhere have I found anything like the 'glam native' portrayal that I have seen on these websites. So, you can imagine my confusion when people speak to me about native spirituality.
Perhaps the designs on our Soul Decks are the reason they are attractive to the native spirituality seekers, I don't know. Those designs came from my heart just as any other art does, but it was not with any specific culture in mind. They are simply representative of my own journey at the time I designed them - native ancestry or not.
Our products have been created to be culturally sensitive to anyone of any race or religion who wishes to have them in their own lives. From our hearts to yours, no matter which road you choose.
As I was surfing the net one day, I came across the website at this link. It's with great gratitude to all those who are looking for native spirituality that I offer this link of intelligent explanation, in a more eloquent way than I'm able to express. It may help you in your search for whatever it is you're seeking.
Wishing each of you much warmth and peace in your journey.

Vibrant, Richer and New
01.30.05 (12:13 pm)
The fruits of our creativity have ripened. The new Spirit Circle website is online.
A whole different look, layout and colors now grace your screen.
It's such a pleasure for me to intuitively create websites, and it's always added excitement when I get to work on my own.
As more vibrant, richer colors have come into my life on emotional and spiritual levels, so it is reflected in the visage of the Spirit Circle site. A more accurate representation of all that we are today.
It's with gentleness and thanks that I let go of the old design, and welcome in the new.
Intuitive creativity continues to flow...

Tsunami Relief Efforts
01.11.05 (6:27 am)
You've already heard enough people saying, "Please donate!". I'm not here to tell you to donate or not; I am here to write a few notes on my own process as I feel gratitude for my family, my home, my health.
I'm aware that my gratitude alone isn't going to help anyone else in need. Sitting in front of this computer typing articles and blogs about how great it is to give isn't going to put fresh water or food into the mouths of those who experienced this great trauma.
I was in the grocery store a few days ago. The woman in front of me at the checkout spoke in a plain, eloquent voice about our need to turn our focus to relief efforts in our own back yard as well. In the aftermath of the tsunami, local Food Bank donations are down and those in our own area are suffering more. Interesting viewpoint, and one well worth taking into account.
In weighing the severity of suffering, I realized that it's not about comparing who is suffering more or less, and cutting off my donation funds to those who I feel aren't suffering as much.
Perhaps distributing donations between international and local efforts is the way to go.

There is nothing like the feeling of looking at my mate and feeling like I'm falling in love all over again.
A gift and a pleasure in the largest sense.
Today I swoon like a schoolgirl, even after all this time.

Choice
10.05.04 (12:47 pm)
Interesting, this thing called choice.
Such power in it, but so few who use it or even recognize it.
Victimization runs rampant, worn proudly like a medal, offering comfort to those who are content to place their fate in the hands of others. It is so easy to place blame externally and remain inactive in our own wholeness. When things don't go quite in our favour, we have relinquished responsibility and blind ourselves in the illusion that it's someone else's fault.
Holistic, natural living isn't about fault or blame. It is about taking responsibility for ourselves.
Unlike blame, responsibility isn't shameful or resentful. Responsibility is solid, confident, humble knowledge that we are in control of our choices in every moment. It is recognizing that the power of choice exists only in this moment, therefore we are responsible only for what we do, feel, think and believe right NOW.
Attitudes toward our own health are an excellent example of this. So many of us indulge ourselves in whatever lifestyle feels good at the time, then run to a doctor or take medicine to remove the symptoms of the illness that our poor choices created in the first place. (Interestingly, typically all we're really doing is exchanging our original symptoms for a different set of symptoms, commonly known as "side effects", but we believe that we're healing. Alas, I digress.)
True health care means making decisions in each moment which contribute to our overall, natural health and wellness. We can choose to eat a healthful dish instead of munching on sweets and salty foods. We can choose to exercise, rest properly, and eat well to enhance our immune system, rather than running to the drugstore or doctor every time we have an ailment. We can choose to nurture our emotional wellbeing with a balanced blend of solitude and socializing, and we can choose to honour our spirit in whatever way is appropriate to us.
Wholeness and wellness aren't about feeling shamed into choosing healthy alternatives. They are about making the best decision for ourselves in each moment, based on caring for the long term wellness of our whole body, mind and spirit.
So, be aware that you have a choice in all that you do, think, feel and believe in every moment. Step up to the plate and refuse to be a victim to your illusions. You are not a slave - you are powerful right now because you have choices. There is nothing anyone else can make you think, feel, believe or do right now. You may believe someone can make you do something right now, but they cannot. You have the choice of yes or no.
Perhaps the road back to responsibility seems too long, or you feel you've come too far down the road you're on. Don't look ahead nor back; your power of choice is only in this moment. Take each small step that is in front of you, for that is all you have... right now. A whole bunch of "right nows" will add up, and you'll soon be experiencing the results of exercising your freedom of choice.
Believe in yourself; believe in your own power of choice.

Mama's Heartbeat
09.07.04 (3:07 pm)
I do not listen to drumming; I experience it.
A full body, mind, spirit and soul journey of whirling beats and wild rhythms. I am carried off into the soulful exhuberance of BE-ing. Reverberating the deep tonal heartbeat of our Mama Earth, the drumbeats spiral upward in mystical, magical movement of celebration as our bodies dance themselves in primal motion.
Unique, authentic collective energy. Awe inspiring brotherhood/sisterhood of creative souls. Magical connection, never to be broken.
I do not listen to drumming; I experience it.

The Break of Day
08.11.04 (5:39 am)
There's something about those precious moments before sunrise.
I never used to be a morning person. I always said mornings wouldn't be so bad if they started later. Ever the night owl, I'd stay awake till the wee hours and sleep till noon. Guess I needed to feel vampy and out of synch with the 'normal' world or something, I dunno.
Several years ago, I had the good fortune to live on the Gulf Coast in Texas. My window overlooked the Gulf facing southeast, and the sunrises were absolutely fantastic! It was an incredible treat to awaken just as a hint of color began to appear in the sky, and by the time the sun rose I was walking along the piers or on the beach.
This was a time of mystical and magical solitude, and I grew to cherish my morning pre-dawn walks. It was a time of transformation, of quietness, of celebrating my solitude and interdependence with all things.
There's a feeling in the air at that time of day. The world is still asleep, and the stillness is refreshing. Birds and animals begin to awaken and stir, but the air is not yet buzzing with the sound of human activity.
Ah, yes.
As I type this, light streaks the sky over the forest outside my window where I live now, and I am eternally grateful for the experience of these magical moments before sunrise.

It's Raining, It's Pouring...
08.06.04 (1:15 pm)
As I sit listening to pitter-patter droplets on my windows, visitors from another part of the country arrive complaining about the rain. Their vacation is dampened, if you'll pardon the pun.
I, on the other hand, am overjoyed with the downpour. I hope for many more hours, even days of it. We live in a rainforest, yet this season there has been little rain and we are dangerously close to draught conditions. What's normally green is brown, and the trees are so very thirsty.
Through this comparison of how we see the rain, I was reminded that rain itself isn't good nor bad... it just IS. How we see it or feel about it is entirely our choice.
My daughter wanted to go 'take a bath in the rain' today, so I put on her shoes and off she went, joyfully jumping in puddles and holding her hands up to catch the droplets with wonder.
The 'programmed' mommy in me automatically wants to warn her, "Don't go out in the rain, you'll catch your death of cold." I promptly slap that programmed mommy off my shoulder with a good solid whack.
Instead, I watch my little girl playing and enjoying being in the downpour in her beautiful innocence. She is savouring the moment, enjoying and living truly in the moment, taking whatever comes and embracing it with vibrant passion.
I take in what this amazing little girl is teaching me, and am thankful for the lessons that she teaches me.
I am fortunate.
